At Amicalola Falls State Park you'll find an 8.5-mile trail leads from the park to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the famous 2,175-mile Appalachian Trail. Numerous other trails provide shorter day hikes.
Amicalola is a Cherokee Indian word meaning "tumbling waters," an appropriate name for these 729-foot falls - Amicalola Falls is the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi River in the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains.
