Cartecay River

Middle Cartecay
Lower Cartecay Road to Stegall Mill Road

Average Gradient 28 fpm    Maximum Gradient 50 fpm

The gauge for this rive is located in the City Limits if East Ellijay on Highway 52 one mile east of Highway 515 Bridge.

Note: The Cartecay River runs through a residential area. There are no bathrooms at the put in or at the takeout and keep in mind that the sides of the river are private property.

Put in: Put in at the bridge on Lower Cartecay Road. The put in is managed by Commercial Outfitters and they have their own set of rules to follow by. You can also put in at Highway 52 and paddle an extra mile to Lower Cartecay Road.

Take out: The Stegall Mill Road take out is right past the bridge down river from Blackberry Falls on the river right. The take out has 2 parking spots, and one is for the handicapped so if you plan to float the river, you may want to have someone pick you up.
