Fall Festival at Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds
October 10, 2008 through October 19, 2008
The Georgia Mountain Fair, now in its 58th year, is a landmark event for the mountain community of Hiawassee. This 12-day event is perfect for the entire family and has become an annual tradition for many people.
From lamas, pony rides and educational demonstrations in the Pioneer Village to entertaining musical performances, agricultural and antique shows, and the ever-popular Miss Georgia Mountain Fair pageant, there is truly something for everyone.
The Georgia Mountain Fair offers a rare glimpse into north Georgia’s rural past with soap-making, blacksmithing, moon shining and hominy-making demonstrations, and tours of restored buildings in the Fairgrounds’ Pioneer Village. Attendees will also enjoy a juried arts & crafts show, featuring artisans from around the country.
Visitors are invited to tour the Fairgrounds’ Exhibit Hall where they will see antique farm equipment, a display featuring history of the fair and other unique exhibits. There, they will also be able to purchase jams and additional unique homemade goods from the area. The Fair is also known for its world-class country, bluegrass, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll performances. Throughout the event, several musical acts will perform in the expansive Anderson Music Hall.
Admission is $9 ($2 parking), and children under 10 are free.
