"Hot Rod Night" at the Tiger Drive-In
Tallulah Falls Opry House on Main Street

10 - 4. Foxfire will host two Living History Days on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10th, 2008, conducted by the Rabun Christian Home Educators. Dressed in 1800’s period costumes, the children will be playing with traditional Appalachian toys and games, giving other children and opportunity to join in the fun; fiddlers will be providing music in the Shooting Creek Cabin; a “smithy” will be at work in the Blacksmith Shop; preachers and teachers will be doing both a traditional church service and a one-room school house in the Chapel; a quilting bee will be held in the Long House; woodworkers will be demonstrating their trade; and home-school moms will be cabin cooking over an open hearth in the Savannah House. Other traditional activities may take place as well! Admission is $6.00 for adults; children ten and under are free. All proceeds benefit Foxfire’s Local Educational Programs.

The fourteenth annual Foxfire Fall Heritage Festival will feature old-fashioned fun, food, crafts, and music. Festival goers will see over 35 exhibits and demonstrations such as pottery, cornshuck dolls, crocheted and knitted items, spinning, berry basket making, woodworking, broom making, coppersmithing, blacksmithing, chair-bottoming, folk art painting, nature & wildlife photography, canoe carving, Native American jewelry, stained glass, and more. Foxfire Magazine students will also be present to autograph and sell their current and back issues. The features of the day will be a raffle of donated items by local and regional businesses and music by The Foxfire Boys, as well as other bluegrass and gospel groups. Good food, featuring Tomlin’s BBQ, will also be available until sold out. Admission is $4.00 for adults; children ten and under are free. All proceeds benefit Foxfire’s Local Educational Programs.
