Annual Kiddo Fishing Derby
Beech Mountain

One of Beech Mountain's annual events that is open to all children ages 4 to 12 (children have adult supervision). This event is free and is sponsored by the member businesses that comprise the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce. Prizes and trophies are awarded for boys and girls who catch the first trout, largest trout, heaviest trout, and the first to catch the limit of 4 trout. Just bring your fishing gear and favorite bait. Registration is at 8 am and the derby begins at 9 am.

47th Annual Roasting of the Hog
Beech Mountain

One of the High Country's premier Independence Day celebrations. The Town of Beech Mountain , the Beech Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, Ski Beech and the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce host this event. After years of perfecting the seasonings and charcoal blends, our carolina pork barbeque and smoked turkey breast is arguably the best in the High Country. Enjoy music while dining outdoors (weather permitting, of course). And at dark, enjoy one of the best fireworks displays in the high country. Serving at 6 pm and fireworks at dark. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce, Fred's General Mercantile, or they may be purchased at the gate. Tickets are $15.00 per person and $5.00 for children 10 and under.

A September(Labor Day weekend) favorite that offers kite enthusiasts the rare chance to fly a kite at a mile above sea level. Richmond Air Force, Wings Across Carolina Kiting and Okra Society Kiting Clubs will be showing there stuff as well. We offer kite building and decorating clinics so be sure to bring your supplies.
